Songwriters Festival - February 1st to 3rd at The Motherlode
The Red River Songwriters’ Festival brings the finest songwriters to the beautiful mountains of northern New Mexico for the 12th consecutive year. Hosted by the Motherlode Saloon, this year’s artists include Kelly Willis, Phoebe Hunt, Matt Skinner, Drew Kennedy, and Kelley Mickwee. Taking place over 3 days and evenings, this celebration of storytelling through song is an intimate event like no other.

Mardi Gras in the Mountains - February 8th to 13th
Let the good times roll at this annual Mardi Gras extravaganza replete with live music throughout the town, cocktail making and Cajun cooking contests, the burning of the tchoupitoulas, and, of course, parades. This year’s theme is “Bows and Bubbles,” and parade award categories are: Best Walking, Most Humorous, Most On Theme, Best Out Of Town, and Best Float. This year’s artist lineup includes Forest Huval & Bon Temps, The Chris Arellano Band, Poo Live Crew, and Ry Taylor.

Ski Ranch Rodeo - February 3rd at 4pm
Take your ranch skills to the slopes by competing for the fastest time of roping, branding, and saddle bronc. Snowboarders and skiers are welcome in this adrenaline-fueled showdown. Don’t miss the excitement of rodeo meets mountain thrills.

Red River Ski Area Ranger Tour - Fridays at 1:30pm
In a partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, Red River Ski Area invites the public to learn about the natural, cultural, and recreational resources found in the Carson National Forest, our local district. Through the end of the winter season, guests meet at The Tip Restaurant at 1:30pm every Friday to ski or snowboard on beginner terrain with a volunteer ranger in this free, educational tour. Wildlife biologists, archeologists and firefighters will join some of the sessions and may cover geology, heritage sites, wilderness areas, water, sustainability, fire adapted ecosystems, recreation opportunities, safety and Leave No Trace ethics. Join for as many tours as you’d like, as each tour is different.
Torchlight Parade and Fireworks - Saturdays at 7pm
Our Torchlight Parade & Fireworks tradition is so deeply rooted and appreciated by Red River locals and tourists alike, that we offer it weekly for the duration of the ski season.
