Memorial Day Weekend
Red River invites you, your loved ones, and friends to join us this Memorial Day weekend as we come together to honor and remember our fallen heroes. This special gathering is a time for reflection, gratitude, and unity as we celebrate the freedoms their sacrifice has preserved and the community that continues to thrive because of them.
May 21-25, 2026
Join us in Red River for Memorial Weekend, May 21–25, 2026, as our community comes together to honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. This meaningful weekend offers a balance of reflection, connection, and community support for veterans, their families, and all who wish to pay their respects.
Throughout the weekend, guests can visit the Wall of Honor at the Red River Visitor & Conference Center, attend the Opening Ceremony on Friday morning, and connect with a variety of free veteran services and organizations dedicated to healing, support, and outreach.
In Brandenburg Park, food vendors will be available daily, creating a welcoming space to gather with friends and family. Visitors are also invited to take part in the Patch & Challenge Coin Swap on Friday and Saturday, a chance to share stories and connect with others.
On Sunday evening, the Flag Retiring Ceremony will take place, led by the Cerro VFW Post 9516. This special ceremony provides an opportunity for the public to honor fallen service members and first responders, including the option to dedicate a flag in remembrance of a loved one. Community members are also invited to take part in a special tribute by dedicating a flag to a service member who has passed. If you would like to participate, please click this link to submit a dedication. All submissions need to be in by 11:59pm Saturday, May 23rd.
We encourage everyone to participate in this weekend of remembrance, whether by attending a ceremony, visiting the Wall of Honor, or simply taking a moment to reflect. Memorial Weekend in Red River is a time to come together, support one another, and carry forward the respect and meaning this holiday represents.
